In A Course in Miracles, Jesus tells us that miracles should be involuntary and that they should not be under conscious control. (T-1.I.5)

When we go on this Inner journey, we think that we need to learn and understand a lot, that we need to understand what God is. Yet, when we go into this mystical direction, the purpose is to release everything that stands in the way of receiving inner guidance and following that.

Once we start to give ourselves over to this guidance, we start to see that we were wrong about everything we thought we knew. That is what guidance is leading us to, to this happy realization of, I was wrong about all the painful judgments and beliefs about myself and everything else.

In this sense, a mystic can be described as someone who stays very relaxed in the realization of, I don’t know, and I am taken care of.

As we come closer to the mystical Heart of Christ, we come closer to the Heart of God. By laying aside all judgment, and allowing for this simple and serene state of mind, we go beyond this world. This is a state of mind that is above the battlefield and has accepted Christ within.

There are no more words to say, just quiet listening to the Song of Heaven.

Simply do this: Be still, and lay aside all thoughts of what you are and what God is; all concepts you have learned about the world; all images you hold about yourself. ²Empty your mind of everything it thinks is either true or false, or good or bad, of every thought it judges worthy, and all the ideas of which it is ashamed. ³Hold onto nothing. ⁴Do not bring with you one thought the past has taught, nor one belief you ever learned before from anything. ⁵Forget this world, forget this course, and come with wholly empty hands unto your God. (ACIM, W-189.7:1-5)

David Hoffmeister began his journey to spiritual Enlightenment in 1986 when he encountered A Course in Miracles and recognized it as the tool he had been seeking for a radical transformation of his mind and perceptions. In the early years, he studied the Course with passionate intensity, often reading it for eight or more hours a day. Among family members, friends, and teachers, David had always been known for questioning everything. Thus, he was delighted to find in the Course support and encouragement from the voice of Jesus for his careful examination of every idea, belief, concept, and assumption.

It wasn’t long before David began to hear Jesus speaking to him in his mind as a clear stream of thoughts. Jesus became David’s internal teacher, answering his every question and giving him practical guidance regarding the day-to-day management of his life—his work, finances, relationships, etc. Over time it became clear that this guidance could be relied upon for answers to his every practical need.

After two and a half years of studying ACIM alone, David began seeking the company of other ACIM students, attending as many as five groups a week. At these groups, he was startled to find that instead of just speaking to him, Jesus then began speaking through him! Due to the clarity and authority that could be felt, many students in these groups began referring their questions to David.

The message David has been sharing for over 35 years while traveling the world is based on the teachings of Jesus found in A Course in Miracles and the Bible. Today, his writings, recordings, and many online resources comprise a complete pathway to God. For those who believe Enlightenment is possible in this lifetime, David is pure inspiration! He speaks with presence and clarity that is unmistakably inspired by Spirit, offering practical answers for modern-day problems.

“The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand,” (Matthew 3:2) means that Enlightenment is available right here and now. It is necessary to recognize the trap of thinking that happiness, peace of mind, and salvation are somewhere off in the future. The linear (past/future) concept of time is part of the dualistic belief system that must be questioned. There is great joy and contentment in the experience of now. This is the message at the core of what Jesus taught and still teaches.

God isn’t holding out on us or dangling a carrot of eternal peace before us, saying, “Here’s Enlightenment… keep reaching… Oops, you missed again!” Enlightenment and eternal peace are truly available right here, right now, and depends on nothing but our single-focused desire for it. As Jesus says in A Course in Miracles, “Be not content with future happiness. It has no meaning, and is not your just reward. For you have cause for freedom now.” T-26.VIII.9:1-3

To experience this true freedom, the mind must be emptied. Everything we have believed about everything must be questioned and released, for it is our false beliefs alone that block us from the awareness of truth. This questioning process begins by examining the practical problems we perceive ourselves as having, and then allowing our mind to open to a new way of perceiving.
